What size/power compressor can you recommend?

I'm shortly going to be in the market for a compressor (used most likely). It will just be for garage use and initially for using air nibblers on and potentially a little bit of spraying further down the line. As I'm not hugely acquainted with compressors I'm not entirely sure of their capabilities and what else I'm likely to use one for.

I appreciate its a bit vague but what sort of size compressor should I be looking for n terms of tank size, CFM and HP?

3hp belt drive 14cfm and whatever tank size u can get at the rite price . u can ad a secondary tank if the one u get hasn't a lot of volume

Myself and a few others went for the wolf 3hp 90l model. There are variants about on ebay but they were £300 ish delivered

I agree - belt drive is quieter
I have a machine mart 3hp on wheels with a 50L tank. Again bought from the returns section at the back of the shop.
It works fine on a 13amp plug - even on an extension lead. It is one of the soft start ones.
It is great for air tools and spraying - will even cope with blasting - just!

It is funny looking at the prices of the compressors they haven't gone up much since I bought mine about 15 years ago. The mig welders are a lot more though!

You pay for the portability - if you never need to move it and have the room the 150 makes far more sense!
The cfm and pressure remains the same only the tank is bigger.
