What to do when the pump gets knackered?

First post here, been reading a lot but finally had something I just had to ask.

We have an ABAC 300L belt driven compressor, with two stage pump and 5.5 HP motor. A new pump from the ABAC dealer is around 700 pounds, a bit too much we think...

BUT, are there alternative pumps out there? It shouldn't really be rocket science to make an aftermarket pump fit, should it? Making adapters and bending new pipes etc. surely is not an issue.

Machine Mart do a range of pumps, so there may be an equivalent firm near you. I priced up buying a pump, motor and tank and it came way above buying a complete unit.

If you use the compressor in a business it may be better to replace the whole bang-shoot and avoid your routine inspection costs.

Thank you guys!! I found one that should fit on Machine Mart. if only shipping was free and I didn't have to pay norwegian taxes for it, then it would actually have saved us. Maybe they will cooperate on subtracting the english tax, if they even ship to Norway.

We have similar shops in Norway, but nothing near these prices unfortunately...

Not too sure? but....VAT only applies to the UK bought goods,worth checking out your tax import duty.

Try ebay in your country and US and UK,you never know.
