Finally getting around to getting my compressed air set up finished. I have the compressor for years, but i stupidly put it outside in a hut i made specially for it, where i soon forgot all about the thing (out of sight, out of mind).

I have put up a 3/4" copper air main all around my shed with some nice smc filter/reg's i got from work years ago, i spared no expense.

So i went out tonight to see what spec the compressor has, it says on the plate 226.00/7.98. Bar = 10.00. Psi = 145. So its a 8cfm unit, but at what pressure ? 145 psi sounds high to me as most i have seen say cfm at 90 psi.

So has anyone a rule of thumb as to what this compressor will run ? air drills ? Planishing hammer ? what spraygun will it supply without having a meltdown.

Maybe a picture might help with what other people have? The specs don't make much sense as you say normally cfm is at 90 psi

What size receiver does it have as that will also affect what it will run (to a degree)

Daleyd, it has a large receiver , don't know exactly off the top of my head, but think 200L, i'll check tomorrow. I know CFM is meaningless without the pressure, but thats all i can see on the info plate;

Cfm is normally quoted at 90psi as this is the pressure that the health and safety crowds recommend you use. Most compressors normally run to about 150psi and your ment to use a regulator to set your shop a supply to 90psi. I have a 3/4 hose plumbed straight into my tank with a large quick fitting on the other end for when I need big power for my impact gun, I'm running about 180psi.
