Whats is wrong with this secuity gate set up.

I was on a site today, they used to, still do, leave items out side the front of the shop.
Yes, they go missing.

So they had security gates installed, along with a security fence.

At great expense.

Here are the gates.



Nice and strong, well made. Can anyone see the flaw in the plan?



Sensible spike to stop the thieves climbing over.
Good idea, but.



But, why climb when you and wiggle under. You can get a decent size child sand pit through that gap.

But that is hard work.




When you can walk round.

Difficult to tell from the pic, but I don't think so. Why would you bother anyway when there's 'open house' five yards away? And yet, someone got paid for designing that.

But I did laugh when I heard they had lost a stand of plants that morning.

There is an industrial site near aberdeen which has a massive pair of imposing gates with a huge padlock on them

Really impressive

Looks like they could stop a tank

And if you want to have a look at the other side you can walk around the gate post and look at the other side

Was that site still is use?

A lot of sites being knocked down leave the gates to last.
It is all down to the law.
Even if the wall or fence is gone, it is assumed that the site is private land, thus subject to trespass laws.

The gates are left to give a "Indication of a closed site"
So by entering the site, even walking round the gate, you are committing an act of trespass.

The site I was showing the gates off was still active and just paid a lot of money to stop the thieves.

Trespass is merely a civil issue though, plod uninterested.

If nothing else, it stops a gang turning up in a van. Sometimes all you have to do is make it look a bit tricky
