whats the smallest mag drill available?

not a whole lot coming up on google. I'm looking for something with a capacity up to about 14 or 15 mm... they all seem to go up to 30mm and beyond, and are huge, heavy things.

any pointers appreciated, im sick of drilling in plate!

30mm -ish is about as small as they go, there is a low profile one where the cutter is mounted at 90 degrees to the motor but that is megger pricey.

The small ones are about 10Kg so not that heavy, but the speed at which they bore holes is something else.

I bought one a few months ago to do some 11mm holes in 15mm flat. I wish I had got one years ago, it makes things so easy.

Have you looked at the JEI Minibeast? They're a tidy little mag drill, up to 35MM, quite small in size. Decent money at around £340 too.

Thats good to hear Tom i thought it might be. Starting with a 4mm and working up to to a 12mm drill bit is no fun after x amount of times. looking forward to getting one.

I should have purchased mine years ago, it's worth every penny and more.
Until you get one, make sure you aren't going up in small stages when drilling steel - e.g for a 12mm hole you want a small bit about 4/5mm followed by the big one, nothing in between. But the mag drill will really change how you see holes appear in steel!
