Whats this fuel tank from?

I have had this fuel tank kicking around for a long time, not even sure were I found it.
I think it is from a Lister stationary engine, but was hoping some here could confirm.

There is no markings, or stamping on the tank, or filler. In it's past some one has crudely welded on a hydraulic fitting were I assume was the fuel outlet tap.



That is the only marking on the frame and tank.

Any pointers to what is from will be much appreciated.

It's future, not sure, but it will not be wasted or scraped.

Looks like allen scythe or rotavator.
Theres a lad locally got an ex-mod [1] quad with a tank like that as well.


[1] he claims its ex-MOD hence the olive colour scheme.

Thank you for the relies.
The pointers and some internet searching I have got an answer.
Of sorts.

The Bracket is from a Lister Stationary engine, circa 1945 to 1955. It was a universal bracket designed to take a range of tanks.

The tank is a generic tank manufactured by a range of suppliers in the pre and post WW2 error. The idea was it could be fitted to a range of small engines, simply by adjusting the wire clips.

I would question it being Lister, in several years of playing with stationary engines, I have never seen a bracket like that on any Lister. The tank looks decidedly Villiers.
I may of course be wrong...

In laws house is an 1860's vintage log cabin underneath it all. No 3 prong ground anywhere, all electric cords have been modified. Electric wires are run through logs making them not accessible. All Asbestos covered also, just to put icing on the cake.

I'm just glad we went to shuttered plugs so people don't do what north americans do - yank out the earth pin to use new stuff on unearthed sockets.....

Mine is plastic bodied.

Fitted with a 3 wire shorting capacitor. A nice safety device.

The golden B&D is all metal and metal case is earth, motor is earthed out as well.
Fitted with a 3amp fuse, and passed the PAT I carried out on it.
