Where to buy?

Hi Folks
Im about to invest in a mig welder,compressor and various air tools to start my restoration on my cortina in the summer. Can anybody recommend a good place to buy from,i would like to buy it all from one place but i know in an ideal world thats not always possible.

Machinemart with a vat free voucher is a good place to start

Depends on what you want to spend, which probably depends on if this restoration is a one off or not
Machinemart are fine and stock Clarke welders and decent compressors but if you buy from different places you get a better choice.

what i used to do was

tell the manager of my local machinemart
what items i was going to get on a vat free day.

and if he didnt have them in stock. he would get them ordered and in store ready for me on that vat free day,
and also put my name on the price label and put them in the stock room or behind the counter for me.

so when i went down there i would get all my items i wanted without worring if that had them in or not.

makes me cringe when someone suggests buying a compressor from machine mart, aluminium pump units will not last long. From my experience as a compressor engineer buy from a company called Air Industrial Equipment, Cast iron pump units and heavy duty motors, will run and run and run

Most of the machine mart ones are cast iron pumps?
