where to find the imie number on iphone 3

trying to sell my iphone 3 gs on ebay

replaced the screen and now not working so selling as i have a 4 now

when i go to list it on ebay it asks for a imie number which you can either get by turning the phone on or taking the back off

where is it/what combination of numbers is it as there are several when i take the back of

Enter this (as if you were dialling a number):- "star hash 06 hash" - Do it from a normal blank screen. With it switched on! Hash is the square "noughts & crosses" looking key. And the 0 is a zero!
Can't find the symbols, sorry!

Not tried it on a i-phone, but works on every other I've tried it on. I think it's universal.

Ususaly under the battery/sim cover somewhere....no idea on an iphone.

dont know really

i was just going to put it on auction and see

could be something simple as when i put it back together the first time the screen came on but didnt function so i took the 3 connectors off and put them back on again and now it doesnt work at all

got a iphone 4 now so cant be bothered to mess

would this make any difference

hasne been used for months but only just got around to selling

have you entered it wrongly, i doubt it was deactivated unless reported stolen or on a contract that went belly up

And I'd doubt whether eBay can access some kind of central db of active or inactive phones for a simple sale listing - I go with entering it incorrectly. I seem to recall some phones used to report an extra digit for IMEI, played havoc with our software that used that number as an unlock key.

You're not going to find the Imei number without the screen working.

Just list it as damaged goods and non-returnable. There is always a chancer out there who will gamble on buying the phone with the hope that they can fix it easily and re-use it again.

can see the imie number on the sim card holder and have entered it about 10 time but still coming up as not recognised

15 digit number so no extra numbers

cant list it on ebay without the number is the problem
