Which Stacey's crushed glass for pressure pot blaster?

Hey I know quite a few people here are using DIY pressure pot blasters and are getting their media from Stacey Processing.

I've got auto parts to do, fuel tank, brackets, suspension parts, prop shaft. But also bits of the body. It's only non-visible bits of body that I have to do, small areas and in places like inside the wheel arches, basically bits of the body that are unlikely to warp easily.

Which grade of crushed glass should I be buying? I prefer to buy only one grade as the stuff has to be bought by the ton!

The biggest nozzle on my pressure pot blaster looks like 3.5mm and I have about 30 CFM of compressed air available.

They will sell it in bags, priced pro-rata, but carriage for one bag will be the same for 1 tonne.

IIRC I used Fine/medium, it can be re-used but it breaks down into finer grit each time.

Yep, so for me it only makes sense in a ton. Are the bags sealed? Can they be kept outside?

Mine were sealed, but I'd check just in case they've changed, for example Hodge-Clemco bags were open-necked.

Can I check, the fine-medium will get through rust?

I used it on very rusty Scooter frames, it's very sharp and you may find you can drop the pressure a bit too.

it will because its more coarse than kiln dried sand and that removes rust no problem any coarser than fine medium and it will block in your blast nozzle28cfm will run your jet no problem and the comp will cut out up to pressure while your blasting

No, the bags are not sealed so to speak. They are sealed at the top but have breathing holes so the bags don't burst when stacked. I got fine grade and works perfect with 3mm nozzle

Gotcha, thanks. Just wondering about storage. Outside would be great. Always wondered what those holes were for. Caustic soda 25kg bags have the same, I wondered why.

I store mine outside, just keep it covered. The pallet is very well packaged . Just had to put a few indoors as all the bags wouldn't fit in a spare storage tank I had doing nothing

Just ordered from Stacey Processing. If you phone them up it's even cheaper, paid £122 for a pallet load delivered. That will last me! To be honest if I sell what I don't use by the bag I'll probably end up making a profit as single bags even on collection-only are much dearer than pallet load.
