Whip Hose connection ?

OK bought a 600mm whip hose, mainly ‘cos “they” say you should; presumably to protect the crimped on XF quick release connectors on 2 new PCL hoses 10m and 15m. (not 100% convinced its important)

So I was going to screw the Whip male threaded end into the gun.

But then thought, for ease of storage/connection to other tools. Why not get a male 1/4 adaptor, and screw that into the gun, and another 1/4” female QR connector and attach to the whip hose where the black “Speed Reducer” is currently attached.

Concept being IF ?? air guns destroy QR Connectors, then I sacrifice this proposed one @ £7.60 from Screwfix, and protect the crimped on ones on 2 new hoses.

Q. Is this worth it?
Q. Is their any other reason one uses a Whip hose (honestly dont understand the logic around these).
Especially when my Whip Hose is the same 10mm ID as the main hoses.

Note the speed reducer is only used when undoing the Lawnmowers centralised bolt i.e. “allegedly tames the max 270 Nm power of the gun. Not yet tried it, but for £8 worth a punt?
Plus can be used on sanders to reduce the speed at a later date.

I've never bothered with a whip on anything except where the QR connectors impede access.

They're a good idea on high duty cycle stuff, because that first few feet of line gets all the abuse, day after day and it'll fast knacker a normal extension hose.

Also so you don’t have the bulky qr connection close to the handle, meaning you can have a few feet of “thinner” more flexi hose near the tool, and heavier hose trailing on floor where it doesn’t matter so much.

The lighter and stronger the connection to the gun is the better, I have had experience of heavier connectors snapping after a while owing to vibration. Just screw the whip directly into the gun, Lose the black fitting.

I have them on tools with exhaust ducting but never bother with them apart from that.
Although none of my stuff ever gets used enough to wear up a coupling.
The connecting/disconnecting wears mine before the vibration does

The whip hose makes handling the tools a lot nicer - the solid connectors get in the way.

As for the speed reducer - throw it - just don't pull the trigger so far if you really need to - or wind the regulator down with the reverse-flexed flexi-hose connected to it . . .

Can also get whip hoses that have a ball swivel at the tool end. Not seen often here, but very common in USA.

the idea of the whip hose is more flexibility before the coupling and less strain on them plus less force on your wrist dragging it round

I only use whip hoses on - tiny 3/8 mini air ratchets and 3/4" 1" air impact wrenches.

Everything else I thread quick release fiting into the tool.

presume you dont use sprayguns then one of the main things you use them on and die grinders for flexibility

I use them on my spray guns but they dont seem to last more than a year or so they fall apart. I need some more resistient to thinners me thinks!

you need quality rubber ones theres some right garbage about that perishes after a year without use. had to buy some as one of mine burst so got one from screwfix think it was about 14 quid . time will tell might have been erbouer

all mine are decent steam hose apart from screwfix one and had for years borrowed from a chemical works

No I don't do any spraying - I do use air die grinders a lot thou.

(I can spray paint very well - but I can't make filler look like a car at all - it just looks like a childs plasticine abortion!)
