who uses a window vac?

thinking of getting a window vac as we get a few steamed up windows

looking at screwfix and karcher,both say cant be used on its side ...is that so ? sounds a bit naf if you cant do the lower 12" of the glass as the tank /window sill hits

I’ve got the Karcher, seems to work ok on its side, I didn’t know you weren’t supposed to use it like that. It vacuums up the water well.

We had one. I tried to use it on car windscreen and, as you say, it couldn't be used on it's side or lower down. Mate, however, has one and thinks its great for around the house. IMO no use to me so wouldn't have another.

I use one regularly never had a problem using it on its side but do empty it as necesscary.

We use ours on its side but I do make sure the tank is empty first. I remember in the past trying it with water in the tank, and upset the motor causing water to be sprayed out of the vents etc. was ok when it dried out.

I have the Karcher and works fine on it’s side just have the body at a slight downward angle.

We have a Karcher one, gets used daily to dry the shower screens, tiles and windows in the bathroom.

Karcher one works fine on it's side until the tank reaches a certain level - and then the motor fan throws the overflow out the vents.
I use if for condensation on house windows and on the rear window of my Alfa 159, where it has to be upside down for part of it - and it works there too.

Occasionally gets used to remove all the condensation on the inside of my 5m wide roller shutter to the garage too.

Mine was bought for 35 quid at Pickering Steam Rally a good few years ago.

So so, I use it on its side, but still have to use some paper towel to mop up the last of the condensation. Not sure if any would hoover it all up.

So does the heat . . .

All this week, its been wetter outside than in, so open windows in bathroom showed no signs of any decrease in moisture all day. Thick, wet, low hanging, stationary mist making everything very soggy. I've not see the other side of the valley all week.

Not got one: won’t be getting one. IMO, just another gimmick to separate money from those ‘that must have’.

If you want something to remove condensation from a smooth surface, quickly, easily, without the hassle of then having to dry a towel/cloth etc, then they are pretty good.

If you don't . . . then they aren't.

same here just empty it before its full and no probs . there brill

Same as the other said.I have a karcher,can use at an angle but will spit out the side if full, use tilted for lower edge of window.Not as good as the chamois i used before but a lot quicker.

We've had a Karcher for years, still works a treat.

We used to open windows to vent but not a chance now with cost of heating the house unfortunately.

As said if tank is reasonably empty it works fine on it's side.

I think the models mainly go by width of the blade.
