Wire feed issue

I have recently purchased a user snap on 2180-sx machine . Allegedly not used for a while . Powers up but initially continue to feed wire after trigger was operated . Has now stopped feeding wire all together . Roller checked torch seems in order , switch looks ok . All wires seem to have a good contact . Power light on obs and fan running ! . Any help would be much appreciated! Many thanks.

Check out the liner, if pinch roller turning. Or undo pinch ad see if it turns. Internal relay?

Sorry when you say pinch wheel do you mean the motor driven one ? . If so it will turn slowly

Unlike you'll be able to hand turn it against the gearing. Next is to check motor supply voltage. If none trace back to a relay? As someone else said ...be careful with an invertor set because of stored high voltages.

Yes it’s powered but feed wheel doesn’t turn !

Even if the wire will not feed, can you strike an arc at the tip of the MIG wire? Try this at all positions of the rotary voltage switch.
The wirefeed motor gets power from the same low-voltage high-current DC supply that is used for welding power, via the speed control circuit on the printed circuit board.

When I purchased the machine it did arc on the earth lead but then there was a constant wire feed with out pressing the the torch . There is no arc now ! . All I have now is the machine power light on , fan is running nothing else . All connections seem in order at trigger torch and where they join the machine .

Beyond my capabilities unfortunately!

Hang on thinking about it again - if the power light is on Iam sure the transformer on the board is working as that powers it - ideally need to see inside it so we can advise more

Disconnect motor and power with a battery.
If this works, it's in the control.
