Wire jamming

Just purchased a new parweld 171c.
Trying to feed the wire in and it keeps jamming at the tip ! Feeds fine up to that point but just doesn’t want to feed through the tip. Tried various different tensions on the rollers and even changed the tip out for another.

many ideas ?

Have you got the correct size contact tip in?

Ie havent got a 0.6mm tip for a 0.8mm wire.

Some times you have to remove the tip first then replace it once the wire has cleared the liner,

Good shout - I must admit, I've always found I have to do this (i.e. it won't ever feed through the tip in situ)

I always take the tip off , some welding machines advertise that you dont have to with their own consumables , Fronius springs to mind , me , Im cheap so I just pop the tip out , good chance for a clean up at the same time.

Yup tried removing the tip and when I put it back on it would feed but not if the tip was fully tightened

0.8 wire and tip

Have you got a clean cut at the end...if its deformed it wont go through the tip

Yup clean cut. Like I said if I feed it through manually and then tighten down the tip all the way it doesn’t move unless I loosen the tip a little.
The spring end of the liner does protrude a little but it’s a brand new torch so it seems unlikely it’s that

possibly a crossthread somewhere in the tip holder?

Depending how the liner end is cut, maybe it could br getting pushed to one side when the tip is fully tightened,
