Wondering what this is turning this

I've seen some wood choppers on YouTube mainly polish that are motor powered but rotate a gear or something that shoves the wood onto a blade I'm wondering what the thing is that rotates the arm if anyone has ever seen one.

Wood chippers normally have hydraulic feed wheels. You got a link so can see?

There are a few rack and pinion types on you tube.
Pinion driven by a motor and the rack drives the log forward.

The first machine, be nice to have the time to use it,yawn....and if it hits anything tough that pushrod is a gonner....proper machines are rated in TONS...!!!!!
Look in the US for log splitters they split the whole log in 1 go On a machine not much bigger...
Remember it’s the branch knots an the crutch logs that make or break the machine

Yeah you don’t really want anything where the blade moves fast, lugging logs is tiring work and accidents are easily done after a few hours operating the machine.

As said above it’s all about tonnage really, I was splitting hundred year old pine felled over two years ago that had subsequently fallen into a swamp, the machine did not like that but still carved through, eventually. An axe wouldn’t touch it til months later once it had dried (burned very hot, beautiful fire starter). Plus a hydraulic ram can be hooked up to a petrol engine mounted on a trailer and towed out to the back of beyond, which is usually where trees live

If the wood is dry and easy to split it’s quicker with an axe. I wouldn’t mind one of these however
