This is the first project I've posted on here, so go easy!
I have knackered knees... well, I do after spending a couple of hours scratting about on the garage floor messing with the brakes on Our Lass's SV. It's a combination of age (I'm not quite 40 yet, ) and years of BMX/MTB, and running half marathons with bad form! Kneeler mats don't work, kneepads are uncomfortable, so I looks at the pile of offcuts raided from the scrap bin at work currently residing in the 'spider corner' in my garage, and set to work.
This is the result:
I know you can buy them for 20 or 30 quid, but they seem a bit flimsy for the money. The base is 3mm thick steel, uprights are 25 x 25 x 2mm box, with a 25 x 15mm cross brace under the seat. Swivel castors are from a bread crate dolly and the seat base is MDF covered with a piece of foam cut from a Snap-On kneel mat. It positions my **** at exactly 390mm above the floor, which is perfick for my stumpy little legs. I've given it a few coats of acid etch primer today and covered the foam with a piece of red leatherette vinyl
More pics when it's dry, if anyone's interested .
