Workshop Machine bed rust protection

Hi,
Has any one got a successful home made brews for rust protection on machine beds in an unheated shop ,
Apart from old towels and bees wax used at the mo. its not heated and not always used daily cast iron beds/Chucks etc catch it now and again .
Must be some local potions that work other than expensive aerosols?

Insulated cover and a small heat source near the ground. Even something like a 30W tubular heater would make a difference. If the workshop is relatively draught proof, then a dehumidifier would help.

As @voipio suggests, better to deal with the cause rather than protect against the effects.

As you give your location as north west Dales, there must be a few sheep around. Catch one and squeeze some lanolin from it. Local and cheap.

I spray everything with ACF50 dont seem to get any rust on stuff since ive been doing that

Coverered my lathe with grease as it's living outside till I made a shed something.
Mine was already partially rusty I've slowed a lot the corrosion but I'm trying to do my best to make at least a little shed to get it in working conditions

all my cast iron metal and wood machines get well covered with old duvets n curtains and the like
PLUS each one gets a 11 watt'ish curly wurly bulb in a metal hand light...u remember then.....led's dont produce enough heat....
bought a job lot of the old syle eco bulbs.....so enough for my life time.....
they r left on 24x7 as soon as the cold/condensation starts........never been a prob.....
I used to live in a 17century water mill and dont talk to me about damp....
my MIG machine always had the wire go rusty.....so fitted a mains bulb holder in the bottom of the machine.....again 11wat bulb as above...
also left on 24x7.....no more rusty wire....
what I spend on elec is basically nothing....certainly made no diff to the bill........

Mix grease with some white spirit, then paint it on.

Anyone used this type of dehumidifier? Or any better suggestions?
I need it to get damp out of cars that get water on inside screen for some reason.
But also would like to use it at the static caravan to reduce the damp after it's been shut up for it's obligatory month.




Then there is an alternative but it seems very small.

I use Axminster tools machine wax on my machines, just keep a tin with a bit of sponge in it on top of my table saw/ bandsaw. I suffer with the mysterious rusty hands syndrome and it seems to keep that away.

I have also been trying a knock off wd40 called dw40 that’s quite good seems a bit thicker and a lot cheaper

I purchased a table saw and planer thickneser of a chap who’s workshop was a draughty farm building, when I got them they were bright shiny tables I have struggled to keep em rust free. He just used a bit of paraffin to wipe em over at the end of each day.
