Workshop Security System

Now that I have wifi at the workshop what is a reasonable security camera system? One that works through a App and notifies me when someone is there and sends a recording ideally.

Thanks, I just went for a few of the Amazon Blink mini cameras for £25 each they seem a bargain and get reasonable reviews. Cloud storage is free at the moment but can save to a hub later when it isn't.

Ticks all your boxes and works superbly. It even follows the person around. Its spooky when I'm in the workshop as it keeps looking at me wherever I am!

Just bought and installed a ring doorbell and security light/cam.

Seems to work well and does the job

Any movement notified on my phone wherever I am.

I read they were bred by a German (Heir Doberman) tax collector who needed some extra protection when he did his rounds

I had two exactly the same, one called Bourgeois and the other Lucrecia which were rescued from a plank/meathead that had them locked up in a flat 24/7. They were the best guard dogs I have ever had,they never barked unless it was important and them seemed able to instinctively sniff out a wrongun.I heard a commotion in the yard one night so went out and the dog was running about with a big lump of denim in his mouth.They lived out in a heated kennel as a pair and ran loose for the rest of their lives,went on to live to nineteen ish years of age which is virtually unheard of. Miss those two dogs.

Our new rescue dog takes guarding very seriously, you just wouldn’t mess with her. No one is going to break in when she is there and if they did they would regret it.

Just got my Blink cameras, very good especially considering a camera is £25. Chuffed, didn’t expect to be as good, will see what they are like in the dark also.

This works for me. All of our dogs are rescues and as Bob has indicated, give them a good home and look after them and they will guard it with their lives. The big dopey black lump of mine, now that the nights have drawn in takes it pretty seriously. He is my pal, but when I come through the door unannounced, if I didn't know him, I would be back outside pretty sharpish.

Edit: Sorry @Burdekin bit sideways that. I too have a couple of external Blink Cameras and although pretty good the "alerts" were getting on my nerves so I have turned this "feature" off.

I just have indoor cameras. I couldn’t add outside ones as my workshop is on a street so would constantly be going on as there are a few garages up the road and flats across from it.

Next thing now is a WiFi internal door lock, anyone got any recommendations? It’s for a sliding door.

I like that pun. Must have sounded much more dangerous if you called out their names the other way round. People who tangled with the original Lucrezia Borgia sometimes came to a sticky end.
