yet another knife making question

I would love to own the knife in the thread posted below

it looks like a really nice knife design to me and I wish to make one
it has me thinking perhaps I could get some of the blank shapes required cut out by waterjet or similar process? I wish a similar knife to the one this guy built

ive made simple folding knives before when I was younger but didnt have any money or access to proper materials or tools but now things have improved a bit
getting dimensions is really where I would be stuck I think,have you gus got any ideas how to go about this? if so let me know cheers

nice knife there.

not much of fan of folders myself but am waiting on the parts to arrive to make my first proper homemade knife.

I would suggest finding a shop where you can handle some similar knives to get a feel for how big you would want it, then go form there.

my RFD allows me to hold and handle knives if I ask, which is how I determined how big a blade I wanted compared to how big a handle and so on, what style blade and grind I wanted and what type of handle I wanted (hidden tang, flush tang and so on)

as for the profiles, if you buy annealed tool steel, or anneal it yourself if you can, its not too hard to cut with a hacksaw. even easier to cut with a 4.5 inch grinder and then finish with a file and polish with sand paper.

I find it a lot more pleasing to do the whole thing from scratch

I meant precise measurements as in location points for the springs and pivots,overall length of the knife and basic measurements aren't hard to get and im happy with that size of a knife,Ive a good few similar sized case knives just none quite as rare/elaborate and expensive as that knife,its the mechanical complexity and perfect fit that I like about knives,hardening and tempering the steel is no issue,I wont be attacking anything with the 4.5" grinder if I can help it

im sure there is a website that sells knives that gives schematic diagrams with dimensions on them, cant remember what it is but it will probably come up on google search

I've made a couple of single blade folders from scratch, I was shown how to make a template from perspex sheet and then use it to make in steel. I used brass for the side plates and bolsters and 01 for the steel. This was one and it is about 3" long overall

This was during the making process before handle shaping and oiling test fitted with some pins.

this is the kind of thing I hope to do,I was hoping to use brass for the bolsters and either brass or stainless for the plates but the idea of getting the blanks water jet cut roughly to dimensions is appealing to me as a time saver and well because im just interested to see the results really,I was hoping to draw up the blanks on cad or similar and send the drawings to a water jet company in england and get the blanks roughly cut to size and posted back to the green country
