Slightly different design from my other one, this is for a member on the scottish vanners forum



Removed the valve, purged with water, then tipped it out

Marking up the lower door

Cut one edge of the door and welded each part of the hinge on
Bending and holding the gate hinge with a ratchet strap so I could tack it on. I'm using these gate hinges as I had them lying about, if I was buying new I would use proper weld on hinges

Marking the upper door

Both hinges welded on, then I cut off the carry handle, and cut out the semi circle with a jigsaw

And finally for tonight, welded the handle back on, but flush with the cylinder

Cut down a bit of spare plate to fill this gap at the back

I had 2 lengths of tube around 3" diamter, I cut a section off the side of each one and welded them together, almost making an oval. I had to cut away most of the plate in the above photo to let the chimney pass through. Used another 2 wee bits of plate to fill the grab handle holes. The hotplate is part of an old sack barrow

Had some card to get rid of so I fired it up for the first time

Still have to make up handles/catches for the doors, and possibly an air intake too

Have done the catches on the doors and fitted carrying handles either side of the cylinder

It's basically done now, just needs tidying up

Bit of a blast from the past this thread lol

The stove was built for my mate, he still hasn't got round to painting it.

We were away camping the other week and he had it with him, here's a few pics

tin of haggis curry

a few bacon & black pudding sausages
tatties
tin of carrots
tin of peas
pile of curry powder
