Zeus book or better?

As you may know Winchboy has started his apprenticeship.
He has seen the Zeus books at the training place but I have told him I use one of these at work as it contains 99% of the info I need

Is anyone aware of a modern equivalent? The readable ones on Ebay are going for £10+ which seems a bit dear, or have I forgot how little a tenner is worth?

that dont do unf unc or model engineer theres metric fine and metric course just buy the zeus book quicker to read

My old work Comalco made a pocket engineering book and we all got one when doing our apprenticeship, best I’ve even seen and much more comprehensive than the Zeus which is also good.

What apprenticeship is your lad doing Winchman?

He can download the zeus book for free onto his phone too, my copy stays at home, if I need any info at work I go to the E copy on the phone.

I still have mine from HEGTA training centre in Feltham dated '80 or '81 when I started my apprenticeship and oddly one dated '65 when I was born! Also a couple of other data books that were my Fathers dating back to the war.

It's only money don't get sentimental, get one bought for him. You'll only squander it on food or something otherwise.

I did try one of those discs, but ended going back to the Zeus book as it fits the pocket better.

Machinerys Handbook is worth having just to have a look through of an evening when there's nothing on the tv.

I have both a zeus book and the engineer pocket reference guide from Cromwell tools and I much prefer the engineers reference book it has a lot more information in it as well.

I also have a machinist handbook but they are defiantly not pocket sized and if I was to buy another one I would definitely buy the A4 version.

I have a couple of machinerys handbooks, wartime ones so a bit out of date. Surely as everyone carrys a mobile now, there must be phone apps that cover all the workshop data you would need ?

True. Presto do a free guide, print off the pages relevant to your work and stick them on the workshop wall. Presto used to do great wall charts with good info on them too, we used to be given them as freebies at christmas time.

In all honesty I'd rather get my phone covered in crap than those Bible paper pages of my machineries handbook.

True. Presto do a free guide, print off the pages relevant to your work and stick them on the workshop wall. Presto used to do great wall charts with good info on them too, we used to be given them as freebies at christmas time.
