Other night while I was out walking the dog I noticed this had been put out with the bins, maybe the right place for it but I took hold of the handle and took it for a walk too just to do the bin men a favour.
I didn't notice that the carb and air cleaner were missing or I probably would have left it.
anyway, Saturday job, see if it has compression and spark
By turning the blade below I found plenty of compression.
The flywheel magnets and the coil contacts had quite a bit of surface rust so I cleaned them with a rotary wire brush and sprayed wd40, reset coil and tried and got nice blue sparks.
Next, fitted new starting cord on the recoil
Then cleaned and sharpened the blade
Was thinking about taking the engine off then cleaning and painting the deck but it may not be worth the trouble, the paint is cracked in places and surface rust below, might just clean and touch up the bad bits.
