The Indian petrol tank saga:
I ended up drilling out and retapping the damaged 1/4 BSP port, filled the damaged area with J B Weld, filed flat, redrilled then retapped. New taps fitted with PTFE tape and dowty washers.
I messaged the ebay seller in India and was advised it could not have left them damaged as they pressure tested it, implying I must have damaged it. I then resent him the photo he had sent me prior to shipping zoomed in to show the damage. He then became very apologetic!
The tank looks good now, issues: all the badge, knee grip and mounting threads are metric rather than the original BSF/BSCY threads.
So I had to turn down metric screw heads in the lathe to fit the tank badges and the mounting threads are about 3/8" out, I can jiggle/modify the mounting rubbers to get it to fit, just need to cross drill the metric bolt heads for wiring.
So my getting tatty tank:

At £130 there was no tax to pay on the tank, though postage was £110, came well packaged, Fedex tracked delivery.
