be very careful with downdraft you will hit 2000f degreessort of like a wood powered economy 7 heater ,, the 45 gallon barrel heater works the same way , by adding the extra barrels to lengthen the chimney to get extra heat exchange , but the down draft bit is really clever .
Very interesting thread ,,, as Ive a new chimney to make for a heater in a farm workshop , It will now have a u bend in it .
rocket stoves also hit this temp in the vortex area
on the reference of the above and also rocket stoves a straight up and down system will hit these temps as well
if left at full bore then can and will crack any system as they are really powerful in there heat
the video above uses this up and down in the barrel on the outside stove hence why you see a high glow on it
