Hi guys. I'm working on a rusted through sill of a small family car. The problems are all in the very bottom leaving everything above about an inch or two in perfect condition.l Thstructure is in three parts, outer and inner sills and a "central web". There are also the 'B' and 'C' pillars which come down into things. None of the welding is a problem, it's the prep which I would like a little advice on.
I can clean up and deal with the stuff which is in view but how do you deal with passivating the hidden sections? There is the void between the central web and the inner sill, and a void inside the lower 'bulb' of the B-pillar. Is it necessary to cut these out completely and replace just to get at their inner faces for treatment or is there some sort of passivating process which can be sprayed in there to do the job? How do you 'proper welder' types approach this?
