I’m looking to learn about antenna theory and design, partly to make my own SW antennas for the valve radios I’ve restored, also perhaps to design a custom UHF Yagi for improved TV reception.
I did physics to A level, and have studied a bit of electrical theory as part of my electronics hobby, so am happy with the basics of impedance, transmission line stuff, etc.
I have the ARRL antenna handbook, but it’s not ideal. Too much assumed knowledge, and each chapter stands on its own rather than being a progressive development of the previous one. For example, the first chapter (“basics”) talks of SWR without first defining it.
So, recommendations for a good introductory book, please.
