Back again with another thrilling welder purchase
A sip of all things, shocker, its an old autoplus 160
Now i usually avoid sip and other super cheapy machines as they tend to be not worth the effort, but this old autoplus does have a decent(ish) looking wire feed motor atleast and considering it cost me less than a couple of dominoes pizzas i cant really complain, even if i only get the torch and rob the wire feed motor out of it.
Its pretty crusty and does have issues, the main one being it apparently only welds/works on full power so i have some investigating to do, on first inspection a couple of the connections are pretty rough looking and the varistor coming off the rectifier is broken free, if that alone would cause it to only work on full power someone wiser than me here will surely know, if anyones got any other ideas of where to be poking at let me know.
I'll get round to trying it eventually obviously, havent yet, its covered in metal fillings and grinding dust inside and out and i dont even really want to be plugging it in until its cleaned, even then it'll probably still give me tetanus.
Anyway, rambling aside i'm doing what i usually do and sticking some pictures up on here of its internals just on the off chance its useful to someone else.
