Hello
I am making a balustrade with 10mm dia spindles and a 40mm convex top rail
Intending to mill and drill the rail (using lathe, jig and column drill)
Including drilling through the top to enable us to weld from the top
So we intend to weld into that top drilling to get a spot weld on each spindle ... idea is that the weld will be contained and will minimise the need to grind / clean up
Very grateful for any comments
- is it feasible?
- is 6mm dia big enough to weld into?
- what sort of welder should we buy/hire? (experience to date: only welding 1mm plate car bodywork spots and seams)
- using black steel because its cheap .. would it be better to use bright drawn?
- any suggestions on finish?
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks
Peter
