Lead acid battery or AGM ?
That's a Swift. Has he had the waste pipe fall off the kitchen sink yet?Mate has solar panels to top up his caravan battery however the caravan "controller" sends him a text message if the battery is getting low such as in winter when not enough sun.
AGM batteries need a specific charger, as thay charge at a different rate my car/CTEK charges at 15.2V, also you cannot recondition the AGM batteries as the acid is absorbed in the glass fibre. In lead acid you boil/gass the batteries to recirculate the acid and clean the plates.A common way of shortening the life of an AGM battery is to use an older charger, which doesn't put the necessary higher voltage into them.
Ideally, 14.8V at peak, and dropping as charge comes up.
Been through this recently with my bike batteries.
Well this is what has happened i think, it's been plugged in for a week solidInteresting about there just being basic chargers in caravans. So what happens when we go on holiday in the caravan for a week and it's connected to the electrical hook-up all that time? Is that damaging the battery - surely this is a pretty standard use case and should be fine? Should I be switching the charger off somehow? It's a 2008 Bailey.
Doubt it. He has it serviced every year so suspect if it's a common problem then it would have been sorted by now. Will mention to him though. That's a Swift. Has he had the waste pipe fall off the kitchen sink yet?
