Hello All,
With the help I get on here I thought it only fair to share something back. I am rebuilding my Chipmaster. Started as looking at sticky cross slide, now has reground bed and starting saddle scraping!
While it’s apart I though it deserved paint as this is hopefully my last lathe to see me out.
Here is machine as I received and was all running before I got carried away.
It was pretty good for a machine of its age.
Here is machine after I decided a running machine was too easy. Ready for regrind.
Found some horrendous scraping under headstock and that’s normal for these apparently. It’s that deep in places the 6thou grind didn’t remove bits!
While bed was away I started on other parts that only requires paint.
Here it is back from regrind and starting paint process. Never use high build paint, this time I did, and it reacted so all came off again and back to bodyfiller.
