Stick some Hair around the hole. Should slip inWas questioning whether the "lead in" is spread/mushroomed/ not machined correctly.
The old joint wouldn't come off nor will the new one slide on easily
Ah, I see what you mean now! You have to look very closely but yes, it does look like the splines might flare out very slightly just before the chamfer. Was questioning whether the "lead in" is spread/mushroomed/ not machined correctly.

Thank you, thought i was going mad! Well that or the aforementioned poor eyesight.Ah, I see what you mean now! You have to look very closely but yes, it does look like the splines might flare out very slightly just before the chamfer.

I thought that was a French expression, never heard it in English before.Stick some Hair around the hole. Should slip in
Looks like the spline cutter didn't run far enough off the part.Ah, I see what you mean now! You have to look very closely but yes, it does look like the splines might flare out very slightly just before the chamfer.
Too tight, needs a big effin hamster to install.I think it may be original. It came out once the cv had been destroyed and still with a cv puller thingsre you sure that the end of the spline isnt just as it should be , and the rest is worn in ,,, it came out so Im sure it will go back ,, bit of a polish and it will be grand.
No it is a Saab.Cant see anything to bad?
Is it off a VW as they are renowned for some splines not being the same on aftermarket stuff?
any of the VAG stuff can be a bugger.
only way is to use a mic/verniers and see if the dim is the same all along the splines. No it is a Saab.
The Neither the broken old joint nor the new one will accept the shaft by hand
These don't have a c ring as such, more are circlip that you have to hold open with pliers and pull shaft out.only way is to use a mic/verniers and see if the dim is the same all along the splines.
Have had them mushroom but it takes quite a bit of force. normally if the silly c ring gets stuck
Thjis is why i posted, it is worse looking at it in real life!I think its an illusion, the outer chamfer is a slightly smaller diameter than the splines core diameter which is making it look like it hasn't been cut deep enough.
