After 2 years of having my sherman tig bolted to the top of my sip migmate 105 (which i fitted wheels to) i've decided i'd better get round to making a proper welding cart, and as i haven't used the mig in those 2 years i'll semi-retire it to the storage shed (i may make a second welding cart to house an inverter mig one day, and also a plasma cutter when i get round to buying one)
This was brought about my me buying a watercooler for the tig which is the same size as the mig welder!
As i need to buy in the metal to build the welding cart, i spent a little time playing in fusion 360 designing it... i'm also still waiting on the last few bits and pieces to to enable me to actually use the WP20 torch for the first time, so it's first 'job' will be to glue together the steel to make the cart.
I only play about at welding, purely a hobby to me, so i've been fine using the 500mm square 'bench top' weld table i made from 10mm plate (2 years back when it cost £20 for that bit of steel, the exact same plate now costs £50 from the same place i got it from (brundles)
So the size of the cart is going to be 480mm square to allow the weld plate's 100mm long 'legs' to sit on top of the cart.. so the cart is kind of a welding table as well, but i can still lift it off the weld plate if i want to use it sat on the workbench, or floor as i do now,
The cart will be ~850mm tall so it will roll under my workbenches for storage... the argon bottle stays strapped to the back wall of the workshop, and i use a 3 meter hose with a rectus 21 fitting on the end to plug it into to the welder when i use it, as the bottle and regulator is too tall to fit under the bench if it was on the back of the cart.
Here's my fusion 360 renders of what i'd like the finished cart to look like:
