Hello.
I'm Luke and I live way up in the far north of Queensland.
I'm a hobbyist welder of many years with average skills. Mainly MMA but I have dabbled with TIG and just bought an old MIG that I'm restoring for all the work I'll need to do on a house I'm building.
It's a CIGWELD 250 Transmig with a 2R traveller (remote) wire feeder.
I've pulled all covers off, replaced both current switches, both panel mounted lead sockets, drive rollers, gun liner, tips, insulator. I've also cleaned everything and converted the surface rust that was taking hold of the cabinet. I'm painting it too.
As you know it's an old welder. I'm going to look for advice on preventative maintenance before I fire it up and test it out. I'll be doing a lot of flux core gasless welding due to living out of town and working a lot in windy conditions.
I'm hoping the circuit board in the feeder is OK as I'd bet I can't get a replacement any more.
Most of all I'm very keen to learn how to use this machine well and ways to improve it and maximise its reliabikity.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Luke.
