OK.... I'm going a bit "left field" with a water heater for my camper build.
Typically "proper" ones like Thetford etc are silly money, and require a reasonable wait for a tank of water to heat up. So - I've decided to try installing an instant water heater.
The one I've chosen is marketed for a static caravan - a Ferroli Pegaso 11. Its auto-ignite is 3vdc, & it's capable of operating on a water pressure way lower than the 2-bar (30psi) of the water system I've installed - and its designed for a flue (unlike a lot of the cheap Chinese ones). I've also exchanged emails with the UK Ferroli Agent, & while the heater isn't sold or recommended for a Camper, they agree that what I propose should work.
My issue... is the Flue (& not my area of experience). It comes with a 5" single-skin flue pipe, a metal weather flange (I assume for weather-sealing the flue through a flat roof??) , and a cowl/outlet.
The minimum length permitted for the flue is 500mm - I have a bit more than this between the boiler mounting position & the underside of my van roof - so that's OK.
I'm concerned about both sealing (& how/what product(s) to use, and what sort of heat transfer & protection I need where the flue passes through the glassfibre or GRP??? Roof!
Obviously I want the install to be both safe and no fire risk and water-tight.
(It looks like I'll need to offset the flue off the boiler using 2 of 45- degree bends (I could cut the supplied flue pipe up maybe & weld it - its SS but it could be mig-ed yes?) & heat safety lag it - or buy some twin-wall flue?
Any advice most welcome!
TIA,
G.
