I've had good use out of my Kemppi evo 200....it's always been very well behaved and very consistent but today I was trying to do a bit of welding and it ain't happy. It does still weld but theres clearly an issue.
The back story....when I initially started it up the screen was a bit of a mess (ie not the usual view)...I switched it off and back on again and the screen sorted itself out.
It seems like the wire feed motor is struggling...it does turn on pulling the trigger but it's not really got a lot of torque for some reason (I can easily stop it with my finger for example). Today I stripped the machine down....gave it a blow out and reassembled (it was quite dirty inside) but it's still the same.
Sadly a replacement Kemppi motor (with gearbox) is £180 so I'd really want to be sure it's the motor before I throw money at it....I'm thinking my next step should be to measure the voltage at the motor to see what's happening.
Am open to ideas of course...the welder lived in my garage for the last 10 years....not ideal I know. I feel like I've had good use out of it but if I can save ti I'd really like to get it back on its feet...if I can't fix it I'd probably buy exactly the same machine again as I loved using it.
As a precaution I changed the liner too....no difference.
