Hello,
I was tigging 3mm mild/low carbon steel last night and was getting a bubbling effect at the edges of the pool with a red hue.
There was no porosity at the surface of the welds, just bubbly horrible looking scale at the toes.
I'm using pure argon - checked the gas lines and haven't had any leaks.
Filler i'm using is 1.6mm PZ6500.
I'm cleaning the base metal beforehand too - grinding disc then flapper wheel, quick wipe down with solvent.
Could this be down to running too hot/travelling too slow and pulling oxides from the back side into the pool?
Or too little filler in the pool?
Have any of you guys on this site had this problem? How did you fix it?
Cheers
