We are getting them in a matter of weeks up here north of the border. I was feeling like I would be ok as I thought my Golf 1.6tdi, low emissions Bluemotion, tax exempt car, March 2015 registered, would be at least Euro 6.
I checked on the Scottish car check web site and it says No! Your car is not compliant and can not enter without a fine, no way to pay for access.
I also checked on a bunch of other sites for London, the .gov site etc, and they all said the same thing, NO!
I then checked on Parkers and it says Euro 6, I also called VW (UK) and asked if they could confirm, they came back and said it's Euro 5.5 (whatever that is) and gave a VW email address to check with and to get a certificate.
What a pita.
On the positive side, the web site said that my non compliant XK8 is compliant, and the Merc is old enough to be exempt.
Anyone else been caught out by this?
