Apologies as I'm not sure this is the right forum for this question. I'm restoring an old French car from the 1960s. Not surprisingly it uses metric fasters, however they are not the current ISO standard. The M5 size nuts and bolts have 0.75mm pitch! It's possible to buy some bolts with that pitch, but not nuts for some reason? The closest i have found is a half-nut fitted to Italian carburettors and they are also very expensive per piece.
You can buy taps. I have a set and have tried re-tapping nuts with 0.8mm pitch and imperial 3/16" BSF - but the results are both the same - a loose and unsatisfactory fit.
Can anyone recommend anywhere here in the UK where i could have a batch of M5 sized nuts with my non-standard 0.75 pitch) made up please? They would/ should have a hex for an 8mm spanner or socket. If the quantity has to be big (and costly) I'm thinking of crowd-funding this amongst a couple of other car restorers/ parts sellers then sharing out the stock accordingly.
I've put out feelers with a couple of small machine shops in the Midlands but haven't heard back.
