Hi all I know this is a common question, but have around 5-600 to spend on a new welder to replace my old clarke.
Im only a hobbyist so not going to be worked to death, mainly mild steel 5mm max for engine mount fab and occasional exhaust work, mild and stainless. 13a supply so think I'm hitting the ceiling at 160A.
So ive narrowed it down to the following usual suspects
Rtech 180 mig, good backup and 3 yr warranty, around 550 (shop soiled) with 2 rolls of mig wire thrown in. no tig option
Autostar 16, rebranded jasic, again a 3yr warranty, around 475 from tbws, again no tig facility?
Lincoln bester 190, 500 all in from linc-weld. only 2 year warranty, is multi process
Paton 160 (just under 500) Paton 200 (550 ish), 5 year warranty from forum sponsor, multi process and seem to get good reviews on here.
So if it were your monies, what are you buying and why? and have I missed any other good options?
Steve
