I know all this, but the quality of the job still worries me. I have seen several boiler installs where the pipework was a complete mess, and if the bits you can see are untidy and slapdash, what is the rest going to be like.There is no dispensation because your installing it for yourself v it being rented, I'm sure plenty on here are more than capable and some would do a much better job than a random fitter but legally and insurance wise your screwed if it goes wrong, you can't register it and if you come to move it's not been registered and that can be checked.
Same for electrical too. When boss had the old shop done years ago, there were about twenty downlighters (pre LED) wired in parallel. Was pot luck which terminal was used on each lamp. Obviously does not affect the lamps working, but made it difficult for anyone working on them. Also got a tingle from a sink too.
