Hi all, I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times but...
I'm very close to purchasing a new(to me at least) tig welder and have gone around in circles and arrived back at a new machine with warranty vs an older machine that is potentially better made. Read lots of posts on here discussing then pros and cons about support and warranty and buying local if possible etc. The welder will be for my hobby which is tinkering with cars and bikes so with that in mind it will be mostly used for thin sheet with steel and ally. Rightly or wrongly I'm currently drawn to the company providing a 5 year warranty with very good support so that I can stop faffing about and get on with trying to make/fix some stuff.
But... I really love the old stuff and I've just seen a Thermal Arc 200 AC/DC ArcMaster TIG 240V on a well known auction site for £1000 and I'm just wondering how that would stack up against the myriad of welders around this price point available new today.
Any help is much appreciated.
Cheers
Tony
