I am using a friends Oxford 360-1 Mig Welder and it has developed a fault. It started about three weeks ago then has been fine for a couple of weeks and now worse than ever.
You pull the trigger and the solenoid clunks and it works but when you release the trigger it doesn’t clunk off and is still live. The wire feed stops but the gas keeps flowing with the torch still live.
Before it would clear after a couple of minutes. Then sometimes it clunks on and is live by itself and still won’t turn off. You have to then turn off the power switch and it clunks off like it should do when you release the trigger.
We have opened the side, blown it out with an airline, checked for loose connections, and sprayed contact cleaner. The front circuit board has two plastic clear solenoid/switch/moving parts. One seems to operate with the wire feed and the other seems to work when the welder clunks on and off so I was wondering if this has become sticky. You can see this in the photo of the circuit board on the bottom left.
Really frustrating and holding up jobs. Has anybody got any suggestions or things to check and try to eliminate and help solve the issue?
