Hobbyist welder. Having a problem with my RTech Mig 180. Less than 4 years old, and only occasional hobbyist use.
Went to use it last weekend for the first time in about 6 months to find it wouldn't arc. Only very weak spark, and wire feed would stop as soon as it tried to arc. As if something breaking down under load.
Changed nozzle, wire not rusty, but I ran some through. After some fiddling, I managed to get it to work for long enough to weld the 12 inches I needed to.
Came to it this weekend with the same problem, but couldn't get it to work on this occasion. Stick welder working, so I used stick for this weekend's job.
I want to check everything I can before calling RTech, as it should still be under warranty. Not dusty inside, and no loose connections that I can see. I have brought it in the house to let any damp dry out, although my garage isn't particularly damp.
Should I change the liner -- could that cause this problem?
Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.
I'd be surprised if it has had 12 hours of total use since I bought it.
