Hello, I have the Sealey 170 Supermig. It used to weld ok. Now it starts ok, frying bacon sound, then changes to a whooshing sound and the weld goes to pot.
This happens on all six of the available settings.
I try changing down one step, no difference. I reduce the wire speed, either no difference or burn back. The wire speed does change.
I measured the voltage between the wire and the earth clamp. They exactly match the data on the front panel.
The voltage does not vary with wire speed, it stays constant.
Without pulling the trigger, there is 31volts across the wire and earth clamp.
When it is whooshing, globules of wire form at the tip. When frying bacon, the wire is in the weld pool.
Questions. Should the voltage vary with wire speed?
Should there be 31 volts at rest?
What can I do to fix it?
Thanks
