Hi all,
I recently acquired an old Boley & Leinen lathe (D13LZ, in case anyone is interested), which means I'm fully focused now on addressing the absence of milling ability.
For context, this is a small hobby, projects will be mainly other tools and the like. Space is at a premium, so a floor standing mill is out of the question.
To the actual question then - what are my realistic options? As I see it, it's basically:
* New import mill such as Sieg SX2PG, or
* Old horizontal mill such as Centec 2a
Am I missing obvious other options?
Currently my thinking is to keep holding out until I find a Centec or similar with vertical head - wise?
Are there common operations that a vertical mill can do, but a horizontal mill cannot? Pockets/stopped slots, and T-slots/dovetails are the two I can't see how one would do on an H-mill, but would happy to be shown otherwise!
