Everyone - and every youtube video - seems to only use this for joining thin sheet steel.
What about on thicker steel. Say 6mm or above.
I have done it several times and they seem like very strong welds. In fact I suppose I am actually creating rivets.
For example attaching a 50x50 piece of 6mm angle iron along the top of an rsj. I drill large holes in the angle iron - say 16mm - give them a heavy countersink - then fill them up with weld.
Any disadvantages of doing this? And why does nobody ever show this technique?
