Due to the last high winds among other damage ive had two ridge tiles loosened. One on the gable end risks damaging my garage roof should it fall. At the moment getting a repair done is close to impossible i have a roofer booked for a fortnights time but with two new storms ready to roll in something had to be done.
Now if i had a roof ladder i would have no problem doing the job myself but alas equipment and time are in short supply with an impending storm due in the next few hours. With that in mind i went into the loft and cut a couple of slots in the roof bracing that runs against and parallel to the ridge board directly below the loose ridge tiles. I cut a couple of battens made a gaffer tape dam on the end and filled it with 5 minitue epoxy then it was a matter of pushing it through the slots id cut and up onto the underside of the loose ridge tile. With a couple of screws through the side of the batten and into the ridge board the ridge tiles are a bit more secure than they were.
Time will tell whether it works or not but i might sleep a bit easier knowing ive done something. I post this here in the hope it might help someone in the same position
