Hi,
I have a clarke pro 90 mig welder and I need to use 2 very long extension leads from my house to my car park to be able to do some welding on my vehicle.
I read somewhere that using long extension leads for welding could cause voltage drops and it could cause some damage to the welder.
When I bought the mig welder from machine mart, I used it with 3 long extension leads in the car park and it worked absolutely fine and I managed to finish my welding but then tried to use it again after a few days and the wire feed wasnt working as if the motor was damaged somehow!!
As I was still in the warranty period, I got a replacement from machine mart.
But now it's been a while and I dont have a warranty anymore and I dont want to make the same mistake if the long extensions were the cause of the issue with my first welder!
So, does the long extensions cause any issues with the welder?
If so, is there any respnabliy priced generator that I could use instead? What wattage should the generator be ?
Thanks
