just a rough guide 6.0mm extension cable will get you about 3kw at over a quid a meter thats 90 quid
Google says your wrong.I have 50m of 5g6, I can then attach to 25m of 5g2.5 this gets me out of most problems.
Yawn, works for me.Google says your wrong.
That's the truth, killed a few myself. To the OP, from painful experience, if you do go the extension cable route, make sure it is fully un wound and in nice lazy loops on the floor. it gets REALLY hot when your welding and if its on a roll, its likely get all toasty and warm & melt/burn and make a right mess and blow the fuse/trip box.
For future reference I had exactly the same fault with my Clarke Mig after it had been sat for a while. When I bought the mig welder from machine mart, I used it with 3 long extension leads in the car park and it worked absolutely fine and I managed to finish my welding but then tried to use it again after a few days and the wire feed wasnt working as if the motor was damaged somehow!!
