I use the markal silver streak refillable ones. Used to use the normal pencil type but if you dropped them the "lead" would break and constantly snap when sharpened. Refillable are much more durable. Great for marking plasma cut lines as they don't dissappear at the first sign of heat.
The red riter ones are meant for shiny metal, like cold rolled, or stainless as the silver ones do t show up well on them.
Always been a sharpie guy myself but recently was just under £1 short on an order to get free delivery so just added one of the Milwaukee Inkzall markers to the order to make up the difference. Glad I did because I would never of tried them otherwise, what a difference the hold up so much better and Ive found they write on many questionable surfaces with oil / grease residue on them just fine. Been quite impressed with them and at just over £1 each for them I would suggest trying them out for yourself, I'm not buying any more sharpies.Sharpies, masking tape or paint pens for me.
Paint pens! Bought loads but they never last, slightest bit of grease or dirt & they're done, am I missing a trick?Sharpies, masking tape or paint pens for me.
my pencil has still got lead in it , and Im very happy with it ,,, many here wouldnt be happy if I posted the picture
so be happy with lifes blessings.
but for lines on steel I use welders chalk.
I bought one of the Markal Red-Writer pencils to try out and im glad i did before getting a full box as it is terrible, had to take off about 2 inches on its first sharpening to get it to non broken lead. Guess they should of made it in China not the USA.
