Had an idea a little while ago to make a fence from metal, other half did black smithing day and mad nice 7ft bulrush so though more rusty metal in the garden would look OK.
Acquired some 12mm rebar. was in a skip and asked if i could have some, lads on site said no prob, so came back with van and nearly filled it
We keep bees and wanted to make some screening round the hives, and one of my friends son's is thinking of breading his border terrier and i have been offered one of the pups as a gift, bees & dogs don't play nicely so perfect opportunity to make screen.
This took me 1 hour and its wonky!! Used welding mag clamps to hold to together and tacked then full welded, but it slowly warps out of shape.
This was supposed to be a Fun project but can see it turning into a challenge already.
The Rebar doesn't weld that nicely and most of it is quite rusty so needs a lot of prep. seems to take a lot of amps to get it to weld, was 110-120 amps 20v
Anyone else been silly enough to do this sort of thing and any tips/tricks?
